Event
Description
The Tour of the Methow is a celebration of skiing
and the Methow Valley Ski Trail System. It is a fun touring event and is not a race.
We are using 80k of the
over 200 kilometers of skiing available in the Methow Valley. This
event tries to go back to the roots of skiing. We don't have
awards, t-shirts, prizes, or high entrance fees. What we offer
is a fantastic day of skiing with friends, transportation, an all
you can eat lunch/refueling stop, and a potluck banquet that evening.
If that sounds fun to you, read on.

Distance
In this event you choose your distance. You have the option of a
20, 30, 50, or 80 kilometer course, and 5 and 10k loops for kids. (See course description below
for details).

and Inn Run trails. |
Kid's 10K Loop: This loop will start and end at the Mazama
Community Center and follow section two to North Cascades Lodge. From there it will cross the
Methow River and come straight back to Mazama. |
Start Times
Section One skiers will start at 8:15 am (see below for shuttle
info)
Skiers NOT skiing Section One start at 10:00 am. Please check in
at the Mazama Community Center prior to heading out on the course.
You will pick up your tour participant indicator, course map, and
gather with friends before your ski.
Shuttle Information
(The goal of the shuttle is for your car to be waiting for you at
the end of your ski. Please plan accordingly. Take only what you
wish to ski with as you will not see the bus again).
For those skiing Section One and finishing in Mazama, a shuttle
bus will LEAVE the Mazama corral parking area at 7:30 AM.
For those skiing Section One and finishing in Winthrop, a shuttle
bus will LEAVE the town trailhead at 8:00 AM
For those Starting in Mazama (sections 2 or 3) and finishing in
Winthrop, a shuttle bus will be leaving the town trailhead at 9:30
AM.
Food, Water & Socializing
There will be ample high energy food at the Mazama Community Center.
You may see this food once or twice depending on your route choice.
The Community Center is also a great place for a rest and a chat
with friends as you see various groups coming and going all day.
It may be the highlight of your day!
There will be water (but no food) at Brown’s Farm.
Skiers
should come prepared with water bottles and high energy food for
during their ski.
There will be a potluck celebration dinner
and annual Nordic Club gathering following the tour. It will be held at the Winthrop Barn at 5:30 PM. Please bring a potluck item and as
many friends as you like. All are welcome! P.S. real skiing like this requires real food--a bag of chips doesn't count as a dish!
