The Methow Valley Nordic Team first started in 1988 as a way to get kids involved in a fun and healthy lifetime sport. Since then our numbers have grown from fewer than 10 to over 100 skiers from the ages of 6-18.

Our team lives and trains in the beautiful Methow Valley, located in north central Washington, on the east slopes of the North Cascade Mountains. We have at our disposal over 200 kilometers of cross –country ski trails groomed by the Methow Valley Sport Trails Association (MVSTA).

The Methow Valley Nordic Team offers age appropriate practice groups for skiers of all levels, from the novice skier to racers from 6-18 years of age. Our coaches believe in fostering the joy of Nordic skiing, teaching correct technique, both skate and classical, and training at appropriate volumes.

It’s time to get ready for snow! Read the 2007-2008 Nordic Team Newsletter . Registration will close November 15. Acceptance on the Team after November 15 can not be guaranteed.

Ski Ball Slide Show

Again, special thanks to our Ski Ball Sponsors.

Racing is a large component of the Methow Valley Nordic Team. Many of our older skiers train year round in hopes of qualifying for Junior Olympics held every March. In pursuit of this goal the racers must compete in and place favorably in 6 of 8 regional Junior Qualifying races. Many opportunities are offered for the younger aspiring ski racer throughout the ski season. Please see our race calendar for a complete schedule and entry information.

The success of the Methow Valley Nordic Team is due to the tremendous and generous support from business and individuals in our community and all the parent volunteers that truly make our organization unique. Our major sponsors are the Freestone Inn, Sun Mountain and Winthrop Mountain Sports. Thanks to everyone for making our team a success.

We offer fun and interesting fund raisers including our annual Ski Ball and Auction at Sun Mountain Lodge in November, a Salmon Bake in conjunction with the Methow Pursuit in January, and by providing the lunches for the Mountain Bike Festival lunch rides every October. This program is alive due to parent volunteers who organize the fundraisers that keep this team afloat and keep our fees reasonably low relative to other comparable programs in the nation.
