2008/2009 Methow Valley Biathlon Schedule
Biathlon combines cross country skiing with rifle marksmanship. It takes these two very opposite sports, puts them together to make this fun and challenging Olympic event. MVBA has a program for both juniors and adults. We are lucky here in the Methow Valley to have a 10 lane biathlon range with metal targets and direct access to the MVSTA trails.
In addition to the Methow Valley Nordic Team’s mission and goals, MVBA also strives to:
- Promote the sport of biathlon for both juniors and adults.
- Teach rifle safety, sportsmanship, discipline, focus, and self control.
- Expose kids on the MVNT to biathlon and allow them to experience the sport.
Requirements:
- Junior members (age 9-19 yrs) must also be a member of the Methow Valley Nordic Team.
- All members must complete a USBA biathlon safety class before shooting.
Equipment and Fees:
- Membership dues are:
- Juniors - $20
- Adults - $30
- Family - $45
- There are some club rifles that are available to lease or use for the season.
- Each individual needs to provide their own ammunition which can be purchased through MVBA.
- A parent or adult must be with a beginning junior until the coach or range safety officer says otherwise.
- All parents are welcome & encouraged to attend practices and events.
- Please refer to the MVNT handbook for goal setting and the parent code of conduct.
