October 9-10, 2010 Ski Clinic with Olympian Torin Koos
Hosted by Methow Valley Nordic at the Mazama Community Center, starting at 9 am Saturday. Come find out how Torin trains and let him help you discover your inner champion. Our focus is to educate you in the most effective training methods. Torin’s coach Scott Johnston will lead the discussions. MOD athletes Torin and Sam Naney will be on hand to give first hand experience with the same training dilemmas you face.

Saturday’s all-day program includes detailed presentations on training principles and theory, along with real world applications and periodization information. We move outdoors for demonstrations and practice sessions so that you can see how pros train and get technique feedback. A dinner is included and social hour will be followed by a question and answer period. BYOB.

Sunday will include the concepts necessary to put all this information into a general season training plan. We’ll wrap up around noon.

Training topics: Strength, Speed, What is an aerobic base? Training fast twitch fibers for endurance…. and more. If you are an endurance athlete at any level in any sport these principles apply to you. Each seminar participant will receive a Methow Olympic Development T-shirt, a detailed training manual and a DVD of training tips. Equipment: Classic bounding poles, running shoes, drink belt. Roller skis if you are competent with them. Price: $160 Adults and $50 for those under 20 years. $140 for MVN members.

December 16-19, 2010 Methow Valley Nordic Ski Camp
This 3 day Nordic clinic is held at the spectacular Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop, WA. The camp offers something for every level of skier, in both classic and skate techniques, and includes expert instruction with low skier to instructor ratios on some of the finest groomed trails in North America.

Winter 2010-2011 Weekly Technique & Training Sessions
Join us for some great skiing, learning, and training! Skiing with a group and a coach is fun and enlightening, and will definitely help you improve. Details TBA.

January 2011 MVN Members' Clinic
An excellent lower-key alternative to the December camp, with one day of skate and one of classic. Members only. Details TBA.

February 19, 2011 Tour of the Methow
A HUGE day of incredible skiing (and snacks). 80k, 50k, 30k, 20k, 10k, and 5k options. Get the kids out too! Details TBA.
